The Story of Nicodemus Being Born Again

Previous Side by side

Jesus Teaches Nicodemus

3At present at that place was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus(A) who was a fellow member of the Jewish ruling council.(B) 2He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi,(C) we know(D) that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs(E) you are doing if God were not with him."(F)

3Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one tin can run across the kingdom of God unless they are born again.[a]"(M)

4"How can someone be born when they are old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely they cannot enter a 2d fourth dimension into their mother's womb to be born!"

vJesus answered, "Very truly I tell you, no one tin enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of h2o and the Spirit.(H) 6Mankind gives birth to flesh, merely the Spirit[b] gives nativity to spirit.(I) 7You should non be surprised at my maxim, 'Yous[c] must be born again.' eightThe wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its audio, but you cannot tell where information technology comes from or where information technology is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."[d] (J)

9"How tin this be?"(Yard) Nicodemus asked.

x"You are Israel's instructor,"(L) said Jesus, "and do you lot non understand these things? 11Very truly I tell you, we speak of what nosotros know,(Yard) and we show to what we take seen, but nonetheless you people practice not accept our testimony.(North) 12I have spoken to you of earthly things and you exercise not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? 13No one has e'er gone into heaven(O) except the i who came from heaven(P)—the Son of Man.[e] (Q) 14Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness,(R) so the Son of Human must be lifted upward,[f] (S) 15that everyone who believes(T) may have eternal life in him."[m] (U)

sixteenFor God and then loved(V) the globe that he gave(Due west) his ane and only Son,(X) that whoever believes(Y) in him shall not perish but have eternal life.(Z) 17For God did non transport his Son into the globe(AA) to condemn the earth, but to save the world through him.(AB) xviiiWhoever believes in him is non condemned,(AC) but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and but Son.(Advertisement) 19This is the verdict: Light(AE) has come into the globe, but people loved darkness instead of calorie-free because their deeds were evil.(AF) twentyAnybody who does evil hates the light, and will not come up into the light for fearfulness that their deeds will be exposed.(AG) 21Just whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have washed has been done in the sight of God.
